The Columbia Law School Mindfulness Program invites you to a meditation for faculty, staff, and students, held via live-stream on Thursday, July 2nd, from 12:10-1pm. These sessions are oriented to beginners and also open to those more experienced with mindfulness practices, and they include guided meditation as well as discussion of mindfulness meditation. Participants are also invited to bring lunch to these sessions and enjoy their meal in community. This week's session will be led by Elizabeth J. Coleman (bio below).

An attorney with over thirty years’ experience in litigation and legal management, Elizabeth J. Coleman regularly taught the eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course for a decade, teaching approximately 25 full classes, and has led mindfulness workshops for judges, attorneys, and numerous other groups and individuals.
Elizabeth served as national civil rights director at the Anti-Defamation League; as Executive Director of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and as a co-founder and Director of the Senior Citizens Law Project of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She was a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society; a consumer law specialist at the Georgia Legal Services Program; and a partner at the law firms of Martin, McDuffie & Coleman and Stroup & Coleman. Elizabeth is a past Chair of the Board of the National Women’s Law Center and of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She is co-author of Commercial and Consumer Warranties: Drafting, Performing and Litigating (Matthew Bender 1987). Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a member of the New York, DC, and Georgia Bars.
Elizabeth received an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and is the editor of HERE: Poems for the Planet (Copper Canyon Press, Earth Day, 2019), as well as the author of The Fifth Generation (Spuyten Duyvil Press, 2016) and several other books of poetry.
