Commencement Meditation Session

The Columbia Law School Mindfulness Program invites you to a special meditation session in celebration of the Class of 2021, held via live-stream on Thursday, April 29 from 12 - 12:45pm. The session is oriented to beginners and also open to those more experienced with mindfulness practices, and will include guided meditation as well as discussion of mindfulness meditation.

Graduates are invited to bring along family, friends, and other loved ones to celebrate their achievement. This session will be led by Caroline Voldstad Daniell (CLS '18) and will also feature appearances from several CLS alumni, faculty, and staff to congratulate the Class of 2021. The session will also feature discussion of student research on the mindfulness program conducted in the Spring of 2021 and the announcement of the winner of the inaugural Mindfulness and Racial/Social Justice Award, presented by Professor Kendall Thomas.

Caroline Voldstad Daniell is a graduate of Columbia Law School ('18) and Harvard Divinity School (MTS '15) who has been teaching yoga and meditation for over a decade.  Currently a PhD candidate at Cambridge University, she previously practiced law at Quinn Emanuel in New York.  At Columbia Law School, she was involved in building the Mindfulness Program while a student and co-led the program’s first off-site weekend retreats at the Garrison Institute in the Spring of 2019 and again in January 2020. Caroline is currently working with the Garrison Institute on developing programs around contemplation and justice. She has led classes and workshops in mind-body practices for a variety of audiences at educational and nonprofit institutions, including for youth in various capacities and for populations involved in the criminal justice system. Caroline is certified as a 500 hour experienced Yoga Teacher and, most recently, she has completed her foundations training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Caroline believes deeply in the power of contemplative practice to shift individual consciousness and create the possibility of a more connected and caring world.
