Why Mindfulness is So Important for Legal Professionals: A Practice and Talk with Brenda Fingold, JD, Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher

The Columbia Law School Mindfulness Program invites you to a meditation for faculty, staff, and students, held via live-stream on Thursday, August 27th from 12:10-1pm. These sessions are oriented to beginners and also open to those more experienced with mindfulness practices, and they include guided meditation as well as discussion of mindfulness meditation. Participants are also invited to bring lunch to these sessions and enjoy their meal in community. This week's session will be led by Brenda Fingold (bio below).

Brenda Fingold has been teaching mindfulness and well-being strategies for almost two decades. She is a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher and has directed workplace and leadership education programs at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University School of Public Health and the Center for Mindfulness at University of Massachusetts Medical School. Brenda is on the board of the Mindfulness in Law Society and teaches mindfulness to lawyers, law students, judges and other legal professionals.

A graduate of New York University School of Law, Brenda spent 17 years at the Boston law firm of Hale and Dorr (now WilmerHale), where she was a litigator and the Partner Responsible for Training and Professional Development. She is a co-founder and former chair of the Professional Development Consortium, a national lawyer training organization, and for many years was an instructor at Boston University School of Law.
